Enjoy this editorial, coming to the blog almost 3 months late, and hopefully reminding all of us there is joy and abundance growing in the little nooks and crannies of hidden gardens in the old, worn terraces of Joo Chiat.

I shot this one way back in March when my life was in a bit of a rut and I had no idea where I was going, nor what I wanted in more than one aspect of life. Exploring art direction for my personal fashion shoots and my photography jobs for clients kept the creative juices flowing, and even these were not enough to stem the dull, underlying irritation that nagged at me on a day to day basis which should have been more than enough to clue me in on my internal dissatisfaction with the state of my life. Even when one is apparently living the dream, or you’re walking the path you’ve always imagined, the universe has ways of creeping up behind you and letting you know in the most fully unexpected of ways, that as always, you’re never in charge or ever fully in control, so all you can do is hang tight, and attempt to keep your shit together.

As I’ve reiterated long and often, there is always time for a breather no matter how crucial a time it seems to be in your career, or even if you can’t keep up with the schedule you’ve set for your life. Enjoy this editorial, coming to the blog almost 3 months late, and hopefully reminding all of us there is joy and abundance growing in the little nooks and crannies of hidden gardens in the old, worn terraces of Joo Chiat. It’s a throwback to a hot summer day (although almost every day in Singapore belongs to summer season) when the sweat was making the clothes stick uncomfortably to my skin, and the only things I worried about were how I could stop squinting against the relentless glare of the sun so my already tiny eyes did not reduce to mere slits, and whether or not my bright orange lip color was too overused.

Simpler times indeed.

Beautiful editorial Audrey! I totally understand where you’re coming from. I tend to be a control freak but the universe always reminds me that nothing is in my control (which sometimes can make me feel very anxious). At the end of the day, everything happens for a reason the good like the bad even if we sometimes to get it. Hope you’re doing well.
Love this outfit btw. Just so light and fresh.

Thank you so much Aurelie for your kind words! Yeah I agree… I think it’s best to just go with the flow and take things 1 day at a time. πŸ™‚

It’s so true that even when we feel we have it almost all together, the universe really can just decide to make its presence known and change everything. I think we all go through these periods from time to time and it’s good to share/read as a reminder that we each have to take each day as it comes and truly appreciate all the good things that do come our way…Great outfit by the way, I love the simplicity yet sheer elegance of it. You look lovely. πŸ™‚

Yeah, life is a lot about exploring and discovering as much as it is staying grounded. We don’t always know where we are or what we’re doing all the time, sometimes we’re lost, but it’s okay. πŸ™‚
