After pumping out fashion editorials non-stop for the past five weeks, it might be high time to feature another of my passions which complements the artistic aim of my blog: styling beauty products. I recently invested in the largest assortment of beauty products I have ever purchased in a single shot, which I have dutifully incorporated into my daily & weekly skincare routine, carefully selected over years of trial & error with multiple brands, as well as recommendations from trusted family and friends.
It is after amassing some experience in the area that I present to you my current skincare routine. I have oily skin and live in the humid tropics of Singapore, so for anyone else living in or experiencing similar skin conditions, perhaps you can gain something from this.
The daily routine consists of cleansing, toning, tea tree oil for trouble areas, and a hydrating gel cream. My go-to cleanser is Lush’s Angels On Bare Skin, and this product is indeed worthy of its name. The first time I used this, I was sold. Its life-changing mix of kaolin, to absorb grease and dirt, as well as lavender oil and rose helps calm the redness and oiliness of my skin. In addition to its cleansing properties, it also leaves my skin feeling supple and moisturized, which is much more soothing than a one which strips your skin dry or leaves it tight and irritable.
The Body Shop’s Tea Tree Oil deserves a special mention, as I do have a problem with spots. Tea tree oil has antibacterial properties which actually is very helpful in clearing up spots quickly and effectively. I dab this oil on my problem areas after toning, and after a few hours, they shrink and heal quickly.
I also use Origins’s Retexturizing Mask in Rose Clay and Laneige’s Water Sleeping pack twice a week, both of which I recommend highly as well. The Origins mask was actually sponsored by Luxola, and you can read my mini review of it on Instagram. Laneige’s Water Sleeping pack is a hydrating mask which I tend to use in place of my gel cream on the nights I put it on my face. The morning after using it, I am greeted my radiant, glowing skin. It is a great product for instant skin rejuvenation, so any time you need to look your glowing best, apply a layer of it before bed the night before.
The last part of my skincare routine includes Laneige’s Blackhead Melting Gel every other night for clearing up blackheads and clogged pores. It melts down blackheads and secretes the oil which can be easily washed off afterward. This product is more suited, in my opinion, for someone with only a slight problem with clogged pores, as it doesn’t tend to be overly effective for extremely oily skin like mine.
As with everything else, my skincare routine is constantly evolving with my skincare requirements as well as spending power. I would definitely be adding more serums, higher end products and routine facials as well in the future when I can afford them, however for something of quality in the mid-range when it comes to price, this set is as good as it gets.

Lol I see. My skin is really oily and add that to the humidity in Singapore… it really suffers without a proper skincare routine haha!

No problem Danielle! Like I said though, I feel like it doesn’t work well with oily skin. You’d probably be better off going for a facial!

I have oily skin as well, so I’ll definitely be checking out the Lush mask! I’m always hesitant to try new skin products, it’s so hard to figure out through reviews if they’ll work out for you – I think I’ve used Yes to Carrots for like the past year! Probably time to branch out, especially since the packaging on your picks is so nice (yes I’m a huge sucker for packaging haha)!

Lol so am I, and I’m very picky about my products as well. I think it’s better to stick to natural products if you have sensitive skin. The Lush product is actually a cleanser which I use twice daily!

So interesting to read about the products you use! I haven’t tried any of these except for the Laniege Water Sleeping Pack. Will certainly experiment with some of the products you have mentioned.

Haha I’m still experimenting with my go – to make up, but my current favorite foundation is something light and buildable, like Laura Mercier’s Tinted Moisturizer. I will definitely do a post on make up favorites in the future! <3
