Fairytale

I’ve always wanted to come back to photograph the beautiful gardens outside of the pagodas and document the bits and pieces of traditional Chinese outdoor tables and stools since then and I am thrilled to return this time, with an outfit as dainty and feminine as the landscape.

It’s always a delightful to I find a gem from the bottom of my mother’s closet that fits me perfectly, not just because it integrates surprisingly well into my modern wardrobe, but the fact that it is a rare piece of history makes it all the more close to my heart. It further illustrates how a good piece of material ages with time, other than a slight fading of the color the clothes fits snugly. A fondness for long flowy bottoms seems to dominate my mother’s vintage closet as she owns an abundance of brightly colored loose, billowing palazzo pants, maxi skirts and maxi dresses. I also pinched a couple of pairs of pants as well, aside from this blue maxi skirt, which I absolutely can’t wait to shoot and wear in the future.

This is the second time I’ve done a shoot in the stunningly photogenic Chinese Gardens, the previous being an aptly themed fashion spread for Chinese New Year in February. I’ve always wanted to come back to photograph the beautiful gardens outside of the pagodas and document the bits and pieces of traditional Chinese outdoor tables and stools since then and I am thrilled to return this time, with an outfit as dainty and feminine as the landscape.

Your mother must be one stylish lady judging from your outfit and all of her maxi dresses and palazzo pants you speak of! Loving your outfit so much and what a pretty backdrop!

I absolutely love raiding through my mum’s old clothes and swiping some pieces from them — in fact, the majority of my wardrobe consists of her old clothes — because, like you said, there is an odd harmony between modern and authentically vintage clothings. My mum apparently loved maxi dresses because she owned an abundance of them and I had a field day when I found them in their old suitcases!

Anyway, I’m loving the lace and cobalt blue combination; you look effortlessly chic, and I don’t think I’d ever wear a top untucked, especially with anything maxi, but you’re pulling it off so well! Excited to see more of the pieces in your upcoming posts!

I think it was fashionable to wear maxi dresses and skirts in the past, because my mom has an abundance of them as well in her closet! Isn’t it great to find beautiful well-made pieces (for free) which are also somewhat unique, as you don’t see anyone else wearing them?

Thank you so much for your kind words! <3
