Nestled in a snug corner of Gemmil Lane, a little ways from Telok Ayer MRT station is The Comb, a beautiful little space that is hard to miss. I had recently gotten my hair straightened with unflattering results and so was completely adamant on avoiding fashion shoots while waiting for it to grow into a more natural shape. It seemed like a godsend when The Comb contacted me with an opportunity to try a few of their latest Korean hair services, and I was especially eager to have a go at their range of hair voluminizing services. Having heard nothing but praise about Korea’s famed beauty, hair and skincare regimes, I was really looking forward to my first experience at a Korean style salon.

The Comb did not fail to deliver in all aspects. Its aesthetically-pleasing interior, delicious tea beverages, and warm customer service had a wonderfully soothing effect on me, proving to be a great chance for a short power nap. I also enjoyed the footage of past fashion shows displayed on the TV on the wall, which I could comfortably watch through its ingenious reflection in the mirror. Unfortunately I was informed by senior hairstylist Henry Yu upon arrival that my hair having recently undergone re-bonding, would be unable to withstand further voluminizing without becoming excessively dry, so I opted to get my hair colored an eye-catching copper tone instead. Henry proved to be highly talented, a fun conversationalist and best of all, equipped with a real passion for delivering the perfect cut. His passion shines through his conversations, and I respect a person who loves their job.

I count myself lucky to have discovered this gem of a salon, and would highly recommend booking appointments beforehand to avoid a long wait as their services are usually highly in demand, especially on the weekends.

Love the color! I guess it all worked out even if that’s not what you thought you were going to get at first. I’ve heard so much hype about Korean treatments too but I don’t really know anyone that uses this so it’s nice to see it’s not all hype.
